Genitalia assessment involves inspection and palpation.
Before beginning, ask the client to empty their bladder and bowel so that fullness will not influence the findings.
Female genitalia assessments are usually performed in the lithotomy position. Male genitalia assessment is performed in the sitting and standing positions.
