1.2 Patient-Centered Care

The College of DuPage Associate Degree Nursing Program identifies patient-centered care as the application of nursing judgment to ensure the delivery of patient-centered care and promotion of health for patients within a family and community context.[1] It may also be referred to as person-centered care. The use of these two terms, patient-centered and person-centered, will be applied to the holistic nursing care approach described in the next section.
