About the Author

Bruce’s interest in mental health started with his exploration of altered states of consciousness in the 70’s while an undergraduate at the University of Illinois (Chicago).  He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1974, but a weak job market post-Vietnam resulted in a 22-year hiatus from Psychology.  During this time Bruce worked in the transportation industry and went from a salesman to Vice President in a privately held company.  His last significant job in this industry was working for General Electric, which funded most of his graduate degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University.  Bruce graduated in 1997, changed careers, and received his LCPC licensure in 1999.  He also has his CADC certification.  His master’s thesis, Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy for the Terminally Ill, reflects Bruce’s compassion about assisting the dying with the anxiety and fear they may be facing.

Bruce retired as the CEO of Leyden Family Service and Mental Health Center (Franklin Park), and the SHARE Program (Hoffman Estates) in July of 2022 after working in the behavioral health field for 26 years.  He is currently adjunct faculty and Coordinator of the CRSS Success Grant at the College of DuPage where he has worked for over 20 years in the Human Services Department.  He has been lecturing on the therapeutic use of psychedelics for over 25 years and teaches a class on Psychedelics called “Psychedelic Mindview” at the College of DuPage.
