Dedication

I dedicate this OER textbook to my academic psychedelic mentor, Dr. Tom Roberts. He has been my mentor in this discipline and is a Professor Emeritus of Educational Psychology at Northern Illinois University. He is a founding member of the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), co-founder of the Council on Spiritual Practices, and originated the celebration of Bicycle Day. His professional area of expertise regarding psychedelics is from a scholarly/intellectual and spiritual perspective (as opposed to clinical). He is truly a respected Psychedelic Elder.

Dr. Roberts read my Master’s thesis Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy for the Terminally Ill  and invited me to lecture in his class Foundations of Psychedelic Studies at Northern Illinois University.  He would then buy lunch for me and my wife at a nearby Chinese restaurant after the lecture, and we became great friends and colleagues. He encouraged me to consider developing a class like this at the College of DuPage and gave me all his material (including copies of VCR tapes!). With his help, I was able to accomplish that and now Psychedelic Mindview is a 2 hour credit class at the College of DuPage.

I am forever grateful for the doors he has opened for me including my doors of perception!
