Chapter 1 – Basics of EDA

In this first chapter, we examine the basics of exploratory data analysis (EDA) in contrast to data visualization. We also focus on the place of EDA within the data science process and the more traditional research process. No coding just yet. This chapter is more about a conceptual understanding than plotting.

For those of you in Sociology 1205, this chapter covers Unit 1 in the course.
