The Etiology of Cybercrime

Section I includes three modules: (1) Introduction to Cybercrime, (2) General Types of Cybercrime, and (3) Cybercriminology. The concept of cybercrime is introduced and presented within the context of the social sciences; most specifically, criminology. Both cybercrime as a phenomenon and concept are covered. Particular attention is given to the importance of operationalizing terms as part of a developed understanding of cybercrime and those who engage in it. In addition, a review of classification systems as part of social inquiry that contributes to social policy and enforcement are covered. Finally, the concept of cybercrime and various related elements within the context of criminology is presented in a way that highlights the necessity for measurable terms and constructs that contribute to reasonable and workable solutions within legal and enforcement structures.
